Janusch Patas

Radiance Field Researcher & Developer

About Me

Under the pseudonym MrNeRF, I am a recognized leader in the radiance fields industry. I'm driven by a passion to advance Radiance Fields — particularly 3D Gaussian Splatting — and make this transformative technology accessible to everyone. With a robust background in math, computer science, and business, I specialize in developing practical, real-world applications of Radiance Fields.

I host "The View Dependent" podcast, engaging with leading researchers and practitioners to explore the latest NeRF breakthroughs — visit the podcast section to tune in. I also lead a vibrant Discord community of over 1,000 members (join here), fostering lively discussions on NeRF and 3D Gaussian Splatting.

As a resource for the community, I curate the 'Awesome 3D Gaussian Splatting Paper List', a definitive guide to cutting-edge research. On the technical front, I was the first to engineer 'gaussian-splatting-cuda', a high-performance implementation in C++ and CUDA—check it out on my GitHub. Recently, I significantly improved the performance of the forward and backward pass of the fused-ssim implementation.

With over 11,600 followers on X (@janusch_patas) and more than 5,600 on LinkedIn, I'm deeply embedded in the global radiance fields network. My expertise spans CUDA, Optimization, Golang, and Python, and I'm available for contracting and consulting on ambitious projects in Radiance Fields and 3D Gaussian Splatting.
